Delhi Capitals have officially ended speculation regarding KL Rahul’s potential departure from the franchise. Co-owner Parth Jindal and Rahul himself have publicly confirmed that the wicketkeeper-batter will remain with the team for the upcoming IPL season .

Rumours linking Rahul to the Kolkata Knight Riders had intensified over the past two weeks, with social media reports suggesting a potential trade . The speculation was fuelled by a verbal spat rumoured to have occurred between the player and team coach Hemang Badani, as well as reports of a physical altercation . Additionally, Kolkata Knight Riders were reportedly in the market for a top-order batter following Ajinkya Rahane’s retirement announcement, which added further fuel to the speculation .

In a firm response to the swirling rumours, Parth Jindal took to X to publicly back the senior batsman. ‘KL IS KLUTCH FOR @DelhiCapitals – one of the nicest guys I know and one who puts the team before himself always. We have unfinished business and will work hard together to make Delhi proud @IPL,’ Jindal wrote . The franchise also shared a tribute video on its official handles with the caption ‘Keep the noise coming,’ a move interpreted as a direct dismissal of the trade talks .

Rahul reciprocated the sentiments, replying to Jindal’s post on X: ‘Thank you, can’t wait for the coming season’ . In the 48-second video montage shared by the Capitals, Rahul is seen wearing the Delhi jersey and stating, ‘I’m home,’ and also addressed fans saying, ‘Keep the support going, keep the noise coming, and I look forward to seeing you all’ .

Rahul, who joined the Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 season for a sum of Rs 14.25 crore, has been a cornerstone of the team’s batting lineup . Over his first two seasons with the franchise, he has amassed over 1,000 runs, providing consistency at the top of the order . He had an exceptional IPL 2026 season, finishing fourth on the run-scoring charts with 593 runs . This included a spectacular unbeaten knock of 152 off just 67 balls against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium .

With the addition of Rishabh Pant to the squad, acquired in a trade with Lucknow Super Giants, the Capitals now have two premier wicketkeeping options . However, Jindal’s recent comments indicate that the franchise sees Rahul as central to their plans moving forward . The focus now shifts to the new season with the team’s ‘unfinished business’ being a clear motivator for the Delhi Capitals management and players alike .
